Braintree Payments Review – A Passion for Startups & Businesses that accept Online and Mobile Payments

You have a great new business and you are ready to start selling your product. However, you haven’t discovered the perfect method for receiving, managing, and storing online and/or mobile payments. Sure, you can setup a PayPal account and start accepting PayPal payments fairly quickly. But if you are selling a complex product or a service that is more than a simple purchase and ship/download, you will find services like PayPal, to be very limited.

Talkroute was in a similar predicament only 30 days before the initial launch of our service. Our solutions required a very complex subscription based payment and trial system. Our search for the perfect payment gateway took us from to PayPal, and even a brief trial with Intuit. While each service offered a solution to one of our needs, it also lacked certain features the previous gateways offered. This was extremely frustrating and it wasn’t until we spoke with some of our peers that we discovered, what we considered, the final word in payment processing.

Enter Braintree, a payment solution that specializes in providing services to businesses that accept online and mobile payments. Not only does Braintree offer all of the basic gateway services, but they make the more complex requirements easy and simple to integrate!

Lets Start at the Beginning…
Like any payment processor, an initial application is required. What we didn’t expect was how painless Braintree made this process. Prior to Braintree, we have been asked for everything from our DUNS number to financial records. While we willingly provided this documentation to other processors, it slowed the process to a crawl. Braintree’s approval came within minutes, we were able to access their system and quickly evaluate if their system would work for us.

Working with the Braintree API
Our developers quickly discovered the Braintree service provided all of the necessary features and it was time to begin the integration process. To this date, our developers have yet to work with a better API. Not only was Braintree’s API easy to integrate and setup for our complex subscriptions, the support Braintree offered our team was above and beyond what we expected. We only had a few weeks before the official launch of Talkroute and the integration was completed with time to spare. While we can’t say for sure, we highly doubt we would have met our deadline if we were forced to integrate with some of the other competing services.

Braintree and Talkroute Today
Talkroute has been utilizing Braintree for sometime now and we couldn’t be more happy with the service we receive. While there are many payment processors to choose from, there are few that can touch Braintree’s amazing service, robust API, and excellent support. They seem to pride themselves on doing things better than everyone else and that’s awesome!
