The Virtual Phone System Trusted by 1000’s of Awesome Businesses!
What is a Virtual Phone Number?
A virtual phone number, also known as DID or access number, is a telephone number that is not directly associated to a telephone line. These numbers are often programmed to forward incoming calls to one of the pre-set telephone numbers chosen by the client; either Landline, Mobile or VoIP.
Virtual phone numbers can be registered with a local or toll free area code and can be customized to provide the perfect vanity number. Talkroute boasts one of the industry’s largest inventories of virtual phone numbers with hundreds of thousands of options to choose from.

Actually, virtual phone numbers are much better than the numbers you receive from your local telephone provider.
Your local phone provider will generally require that you purchase their service if you have your phone number registered with them and they will usually charge high fees to forward the number to alternative service (e.g. cell phone). They can also reject your request to take the number with you if you change service providers and move outside of the local area.
When you register your business number with Talkroute, you receive a number that can be registered in all major business directories and when searched, appears just like any other business number. Best of all, you can route the number to any phone(s), regardless of the service provider. If you ever decide to leave Talkroute, there is no hassle to take your number with you.
Toll free phone numbers begin with the area code: 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844 or 833. Traditionally the owner of the toll free number is charged for the call and the caller is not billed. However, Talkroute does not charge any additional fees for toll free number usage to our customers or the originating caller.
Talkroute has all toll free area codes (800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844 and 833) available for registration.
A vanity phone number is a toll free number for which you may specify a sequence of numbers that spells out a word or phrase. These numbers are commonly used for marketing and branding purposes (such as 1-800-FLOWERS and 1-800-CONTACTS). You may search and add a toll free vanity phone number to your account at any time.
It is also possible to request local vanity phone numbers that utilize local area codes by contacting us.
There is actually no difference. 800 phone numbers are simply the most popular toll free numbers but they are also the most difficult to find. Most providers don’t offer 800 numbers and if they do, they usually charge a premium for them.
Talkroute has a limited supply of true 800 numbers available for registration. Best of all, we don’t charge anything extra for our 800 numbers.
Local phone numbers represent a specific region, city or state which is identified by their 3 digit area code. Local phone numbers are a great way to establish a local presence within a community whether you have a physical presence there or not.
With Talkroute, you may register as many local phone numbers as required, in as many different localities as needed. It doesn’t matter if you are in a big city like Chicago (312) or a small town such as Key West (786), we have local numbers available for everyone.
