Caller identification is a standard function of most phone systems that transmits a caller’s telephone number to the called party’s telephone equipment when the connection is being established.
Talkroute gives you the ability to choose which of your virtual phone numbers will be displayed on your outgoing caller ID when making calls or sending text messages.
If you wish to display your business name on the outgoing caller ID, you may do this by requesting to update the CNAM record.
We are able to set the CNAM (caller ID name) record for your local or toll free virtual phone numbers upon request. This can be updated to show your business name on file with the account or a custom name of your choosing (both limited to 15 characters). Once we update it, it can take up to 2-3 weeks to take effect across all phone networks.
Please note that caller ID capabilities vary for different phones and carriers. Not all phones or providers will show an incoming caller ID name, some carriers will only provide a phone number or city and state. We are not able to set a CNAM record for Canada phone numbers at this time.
Yes! We recommend using our desktop, mobile, or web apps to make outgoing calls. By utilizing our apps, you will display your Talkroute phone number on the outgoing caller ID.
Yes! You may choose between any of your Talkroute phone numbers when making outgoing calls or sending text messages.
You may set the incoming caller ID to display the dialed Talkroute phone number. This way you will know if the caller dialed your business number or personal number.
