Common questions
What to expect after you submit.
How long does the review process take?
Most requests are reviewed within 1 business day. If we need additional information about your use case, we’ll follow up by email. For urgent projects, mention your timeline in the “Use case” field and we’ll prioritize your request.
Do I need a Talkroute account to use the API?
Yes — the API works with your Talkroute account and your existing Talkroute numbers, so you’ll need an active plan before you can use it. If you’re evaluating Talkroute and want to test the API before subscribing, mention that in your request and our team will help you find the right starting plan. Read-only integrations work on any plan; sending messages via the API requires the Bulk Texting add-on.
Is there a cost to use the API?
API access itself is included with your Talkroute plan. Reading data (calls, messages, voicemails, contacts, account activity) and receiving inbound webhooks work on any plan. Sending messages via the API requires the Bulk Texting add-on, which unlocks outbound SMS/MMS through the API and gives you the message volume to support high-volume sending. We’ll confirm your specific plan requirements during the review.
What if I’m just exploring and not ready to build yet?
That’s completely fine — many developers request access to evaluate before committing. Select “Just exploring” in the timeline field, and we’ll provide access without any pressure to launch by a specific date. You can browse the API documentation right now to preview what’s available.
How can I test my integration safely before going live?
We recommend building against a dedicated Talkroute number reserved for development — you can send test messages to your own phone or team, verify webhook payloads land correctly in your systems, and confirm your integration works before pointing it at production traffic. Our developer support team can help you set up a testing workflow during the review.
What can I build with the Talkroute API?
The API is designed for building integrations that connect Talkroute to the rest of your business. Common builds include syncing calls, texts, and voicemails into your CRM, sending automated messages from your workflows, triggering team notifications when specific customers call, connecting Talkroute to your help desk or ticketing system, and building custom dashboards on top of your Talkroute activity.
Questions before you request access?
Our team can walk you through the API, discuss your use case, and help you scope the right level of access.
